Special Issue Call for Papers: Team Dynamics in New Work and Organizational Contexts

The aim of the special issue is to advance the knowledge about effective collaboration and teamwork in new work and organizational contexts, with a specific focus on team dynamics. We define team dynamics broadly as multilevel processes unfolding over time that involve the intersection of individual, dyadic, team, and/or organizational level actions that are relevant to short-term and/or long-term changes during the team lifecycle.

To be considered for the Special Issue, manuscripts must be submitted between August 1 and 31, 2024 (by 8:00 pm U.S. Eastern Time, August 31st, 2024).

Special Issue Call for Papers: AI in Groups and Teams

The editorial team of Small Group Research invites authors to submit papers for a Special Issue on AI in Groups and Teams. It is essential to examine the role of AI in group and team settings given the growing integration of artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning technologies into various aspects of work (e.g., Handke et al., 2022; Bezrukova et al., 2023), coupled with the ongoing development of communication technologies and the evolving dynamics of group collaboration (e.g., Gupta & Woolley, 2021). This Special Issue seeks to consolidate our understanding of AI in groups and teams and explore new perspectives, challenges, and opportunities in this rapidly evolving field.

Submit your manuscript by June 1, 2024, via the Small Group Research online submission portal.

Special Issue Call for Papers: How gossip influences, and is influenced by, group processes and outcomes

Gossip, communication from a sender to a receiver about a target who is absent or unaware of the content, is omnipresent in groups. However, many questions remain unanswered about the relationship between gossip and group processes and outcomes. The goal of this special issue is to advance our understanding of the role gossip plays in groups. We invite submissions that investigate or provide insights into how gossip influences group processes or how group processes influence gossip. These submissions should advance our understanding of when and why gossip occurs in groups and when and why this leads to functional or dysfunctional group processes and outcomes.

Please submit your manuscript via the submission portal before March 1, 2024.
