INGRoup Doctoral Consortium 2025

INGRoup proudly announces the Annual Doctoral Consortium to be held immediately before the INGRoup conference in Rotterdam! The aim of the consortium is to support the development of the next generation of interdisciplinary group researchers via an inspiring consortium titled:

“Dream Big, Fund Your Future, Publish Smart”

The consortium will combine a social lunch where you have the opportunity to pitch your future research ideas, a hands-on workshop on writing grant applications, and an engaging panel discussion with action editors on publishing successfully in high-impact journals.

Who can attend?

We have space for 30-50 PhD students who are in their final 2 years of their program and who are members of INGRoup. If you are not currently a member, now is a great time to join INGRoup, so that you can qualify for our consortium.

When and where is the consortium?

The consortium will be held on Thursday, July 17th, 2025 from 12:00 - 4:30 PM at the Rotterdam Business School campus. Below we outline the program points in a bit more detail. Each program point will span across approximately 90 minutes. The exact location and agenda will be shared with participants prior to the consortium.

What does the program entail?

1.   Lunch Pitches: Exploring Future Research Horizons

The doctoral consortium will open with an informal and engaging lunch session where researchers can pitch their dream projects and future research ideas—no matter how ambitious or out-of-the-box they may seem! This is a space to explore the “what ifs” and “why nots” that could shape the future of your field if resources and time were unlimited.

Whether you envision interdisciplinary collaborations, revolutionary applications of emerging technologies, or innovative approaches to team challenges, this is your chance to share your ideas in an informal atmosphere. You will have three minutes each to present your ideas and get feedback from fellow PhDs and experienced team researchers.

2.   Securing Research Grants: Strategies, Skills, and Success Stories

Navigating the grant application process can be daunting, but it is an essential skill for emerging scholars. This session is designed to demystify the journey of securing funding, offering PhD students invaluable insights and hands-on guidance. Connect with a senior scholar from your research area who have successfully navigated the grant landscape and are eager to share their key learnings. The key components of this sessions are:

Building a roadmap for crafting competitive grant proposals

Developing strategies for tailoring proposals to specific funding opportunities

Receiving actionable feedback on your research funding ideas

Connecting with an experienced mentor and like-minded peers to reflect on your grant ideas and applications

3.   Publishing Successfully - Tips and Strategies from Action Editors

During this panel discussion, experienced action editors will provide insights and advice on navigating submission and revise-and-resubmit processes at key journals in the field of group research. Our consortium hosts will kick off with a few questions to guide the discussion, followed by an open Q&A session where the audience is encouraged to seek advice and clarify concerns about publishing challenges.
